Eating in Downtown Ubud

Ubud is the place to go if you are looking for relaxation with creatures comforts close at hand, plus the feel of a Balinese art village. For someone who enjoys food, Ubud will be a wonderful place to hang your hat for a while.

Downtown Ubud:

The outskirts of Ubud, running into other villages such as Penestenan also have a selection of places to eat.

  • Cafe Lotus
Located on Jl. Raya Ubud at Pura Sarasawati, Cafe Lotus is a great place to enjoy an afternoon drink or tea, with fine views of the lotus pond and temple. Balinese style place.

  • Ary’s Warung
Ary’s Warung is located across the street from Cafe Lotus on busy Jl. Raya Ubud. Trendy looking place, open to the street featuring fusion Asian cuisine. The sit up bar is perfect for an afternoon drink, otherwise lunch or dinner are good.

  • Casa Luna
Casa Luna is a legend in Ubud, not just for the food, but for its cooking school and the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival that is related to it. Fusion Asian / European food with great desserts. They also know how to make an arak madu, something which many places do not. Located on Jl. Raya Ubud it is perfect for lunch or dinner.

  • Warung Babi Gulung (Ibu Oka)
Warung Bali Guling is located next to the Royal Palace on Jl. Raya Ubud on Jl. Suweta. This place is packed everyday, because of it’s excellent roast pork. A place is 20,000rp and you’ll get your money’s worth. Good for lunch.

  • Bali Buddha
Bali Buddha is located on Jl. Jembawan (opposite the post office) just off of busy Jl. Raya Ubud. They serve organic food, great sandwiches, teas, coffees and salads. Good for lunch or afternoon drink / snack.

  • KAFE
A very popular kick-back cafe. Good sandwiches, teas, coffees and other light meals. Great
place to chill out and read a newspaper. Located on Jl. Hanoman.

  • Terazo
Located on Jl. Suweta, just off of Jl. Raya Ubud. Refreshingly new, modern bistro. A large open building behind gardens and water fountains. International food with a bit of flair! Now with special luncheon menus.

  • Ayam Betutu
Not sure of the name of this small warung, but its a hit with locals in Ubud, expats and Balinese alike. Located next to petrol station in Mas after you head south from ARMA. A typically good plate of sliced roast chicken, with spices and steamed rice all for around 9,000rp. Can’t beat it! Open for lunch.

  • Lamak
Located on Jl. Monkey Forest, this place does some great food in smart surroundings. Complete with cocktail bar. Top class place with International but mostly an Asian fusion cuisine.

  • Bumbu
Located on Jl. Suweta, just off of Jl. Raya Ubud, next to the Royal Palace. A water garden setting serving Indian and Balinese cuisine. Great for lunch or dinner.

  • Cafe des Artistes
Located on Jl. Bisma off of Jl. Raya Ubud, Cafe des Artistes offers International / European food in a setting next to ricefields. Good for lunch or dinner.

Located on Jl. Dewi Sita, that connects Jl. Hanoman and Jl. Monkey Forest. This place is popular with Ubud expats and tourists. Great coffees, teas, desserts and good for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
