Meeting Laura & Deb at Billy’s Esky

The long awaited event finally happened, Laura made it back to Bali with her husband Mickey. I met up with them at Billy’s Esky, a Balinese owned drink stall on the beach just up from Jl. Melasti. Billy’s Esky attracts a lot of people from other Bali Forums, kind of like a little social club. There must of been 30 people there. Everyone was sucking down Bintang like it was going out of style. I asked Billy who Laura was and immediately met her husband Mickey, who kindly brought me a packet of guitar strings from Perth!

After getting introduced to several people I also chatted with Deb, who is a Baliblog reader too. Everyone had just arrived in Bali and were in top spirits, one lady telling me that every time she came to Bali she felt like royalty because the Balinese are so friendly and are keen to help.

Laura has a genuine Northern Ireland accent which hasn’t faded after 25 years in Australia. Mickey is originally from the UK also and both say they love living in Australia. Laura is a feisty sports fan, and was reeling off Dockers player names. We stayed until after sunset and I reckon Billy made enough profit to open several more Esky’s along the beach. We all agreed to meet up again before Laura and Mickey leave.
