Interview with Brian Moore in Kuta Bali-part I

Brian Moore, a Australian citizen from Birmingham England, called me the other day and this afternoon we met up at Swell on Poppies I. Brian is a great spirit, a person who really enjoys people and loves creating a good feeling with other people. I met ihm last year and we chatted on Kuta Beach.

Sometimes travel stories stick with you, and I remember Brian telling me a year ago in Bali that he was friendly with a German tourist. She suggested going for a sunset swim, so Brian raced her down to the waters edge, just like he would of done 40 years ago. Something went in his ankle, but he still swam around for a while. Leaving the water, he limped up the beach and climbing the steep sandbank on Kuta Beach, felt something go in the other ankle. He had torn tendons in each ankle and had to be carried home! So much for romance.
Today I asked him how his ankles were doing and he said he was only able to walk today. Looking down I saw his right foot was twice the size of the other one. Brian had slipped in Kuta and wrenched the tendon again! That didn’t stop him from enjoying a Bintang with me and telling me why he comes to Bali.
