Visiting SOS International Bali

This afternoon I had to pay a visit to SOS International, the medical clinic located on Bypass Sanur, around 500 meters from the roundabout at Simpang Siur. My shoulder has been giving me pain so today was the time for a check up. SOS is open 24 hours and have modern facilities, making the experience somewhat user friendly.

From Seminyak the trip took around 15 minutes because of traffic, but once there I quiclky filled out a form and waited to see a doctor. SOS has branches all over the world and has English and Japanese speaking staff. My doctor was Balinese and organized some X-rays of my spine and shoulder. Was kind of funny standing there in front of the X-ray machine with my shorts around my knees, but I tried to keep a stiff upper lip.

Its times like this I’m glad of my health insurance, though my $500 deductable prevented me from using it today. Still if further treatment is required, I’ll have it taken care of. The company I use is International Medical Group, via the BootsnAll insurance site.

My X-rays were cervical spine (I twisted the heck out of it a couple of years ago), thoracal spine, lumbocrancial spine and head (to see if there’s anything in there). The whole lot plus some pain killers cost $150.

My doctor told me she the X-rays didn’t reveal anything, but she will call me after talking with a radiologist. Seems the problem might be I have a soft tissue injury which might not show up. Anyway if they don’t have an answer I’ll try a balian (Balinese faith healer). Clove of garlic around my neck, 3 Hail Mary’s before taking a dump, some insence attached to my motorbike and she’ll be right.
