Pura Bukit Dharma Durga Kutri

Pura Bukit Dharma Durga Kutri, located a few kms west of Gianyar is a temple I have never visited. My guidebook says “The small village of Kutri is home to the Pura Bukit Dharma Durga Kutri. Well established on the tour-bus route, this temple has fine carvings of elephants guarding the the outer gate and pigs at the inner gate, above which sits a splendid Bhoma. The most interesting feature is the statue of the goddess Durga; head up the staircase from the back of the inner courtyard and through a small forest of banyan trees to the top of the hill, where you’ll find th statue shrouded in holy white cloths and shaded by parasols.”

Outside the temple in the parking area was a sign requesting visitors to dress appropriately and there was also a box for donations. I gave 5,000rp and signed the guest book, which was in a bad state of repair. Untying my sash from the handlebars of my bike and taking the sarong from around my neck, I readjusted to look like a temple goer.
