Stopping to look at sawah and bananas in Beraban Bali

Heading north on the road from Tanah Lot towards Tabanan my route went only a couple of hundred meters before taking a swift left hander. Having traveled this route before I remember the people seemed to store large amount of coconut husks for fuel. From the main road the narrow lane heads across sawah (rice paddies) and I stopped to take a photo. This section of Tabanan lies between the busy main road heading to West Bali and the coast. It hot, humid and fertile, but today felt pleasant.

Okay, I stopped to take a leak, but also took a photo, including some banana trees. Always a treat for a cold climate guy like me to see fruit growing on the trees. Along the road which passed through the village of Langudu Kangin, I could see the locals had just harvested rice, groups of 3 and people threshing in places. Rice has 2 names in Indonesian. Still in the field its called padi, in the bag its called beras and on your plate its called nasi.
