Indonesia is earthquake alley

The Asian tsunami of 2004 was caused by a massive undersea earthquake. Indonesia as a country is dotted with volcanoes, a sure sign that earthquakes are going to happen too.

Researchers from Caltech in the USA, say more earthquakes are likely from the same fault line that caused the Asian tsunami. Just yesterday an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale jolted the Talaud islands, in Eastern Indonesia.

In a separate incident Kuta beach was closed yesterday after a swimmer was killed by a large wave. This was apparently related to Cyclone Glenda that has been battering Australia.
