Google censorship affects bloggers

Google, the world biggest and best search engine has decided to self censor itself in regard to users based in China. China itself is in a strange a position, enjoying the fruits of capitalism, but calling it something else and also trying to limit free speech (sounds like GW Bush).

Bloggers in China recently talked about their feelings of being censored. While there is frustration with the Chinese government, technology will always move forward and find ways to share information. By the way, isn’t it interesting how Google are kissing China’s ass? Obviously that is a market they want a big chunk of.
Here in Bali I have a form of self censorship on Baliblog. If I cut loose with every thought that came into my head, the local government would blacklist me, other expats would probably try to kill me and my boss would probably tell me I’m fired. For all the west’s ranting about freedom and censorship, we too have to be careful for a variety of reasons.
