Bali tourism levels reaching new heights

Latest tourism figures show July 2007 was the best month on record for Bali, based simply on the number of foreign arrivals. From my unscientific point of view, I’d second that opinion. Walking and riding around Kuta / Seminyak the numbers are significantly up from last year. No more sad looking street vendors and restaurants with 2 customers. Jeff from Galaxy hotel / bar on Jl. Dhyana Pura told me July was a strong month for him.

Here’s more from BaliDiscovery on the arrival stats and how they stack up.

Preliminary foreign tourist arrival figures for July 2007 record 164,618 visitors to Bali – a figure +34.9% ahead of the same month in 2006 and allowing July 2007 to qualify as the “best July on record” for Bali tourism.

Year to Date

On a year-to-date basis, January- July’s 2007 arrivals are nearing the 1 million mark, totaling 910,567, an improvement of +35% as compared to the same period in 2006 (674,561).

Just last week I had to find another place to eat, after my choice was completely packed out with tourists. Even places which I consider average are doing well, which is great for all the hard working owners and staff who have survived through the hard times. Two nights ago I enjoyed an excellent beef tostada at TJ’s down on Poppies Lane I. They were full also and we hope this level of business continues.
