Seminyak Villas

Seminyak is the place in Bali you could call ‘expat homebase’. Reasons for this are obvious, its close to the airport, close to the beach, shopping, restaurants, nightlife and far enough away from Kuta and the package tourist scene to be bearable.

Owning land in Seminyak (assuming you are Indonesian, as foreigners cannot own land in Bali) means 300m rp per are (10m * 10m). That’s over $30,000 for 100sq meters.

One of the best villa sites for Seminyak is Seminyakvillas.net. This site offers a range of holiday rentals from the $1250 a night Villa Atas Ombak to the $150 a night Villa Heliconia. You are always going to pay more for beachfront property, but the places on this site are luxury.

Advantages of staying in Seminyak: Close access to everything.
Disadvantages of staying in Seminyak: Has become more of a tourist / expat hangout than a Balinese village. There are so many creature comforts (and creatures!) that your Bali holiday might feel more like a trip to the Med than to Bali.
