Meeting Laura and the crew at Blue Ocean in Legian Bali

Friday night Laura emailed me and invited me to join her and Mickey for dinner at Blue Ocean in Legian. The time she suggested was 7.30pm so I jumped in the shower and headed down there.

Blue Ocean beach has a active sunset scene with locals, tourists and expats hanging out and checking each other out. Previously I have seen the whole area clean out after sunset and was wondering if it would be ‘deadville’. I couldn’t of been more wrong, the place was pumping and Blue Ocean had live music. Our group included Laura, Mickey, Laura’s auntie and mother, as well as other friends.

Blue Ocean does some good food, I got chicken Kung Pao for 38,000rp. It arrived sizzling on metal hot plate and everybody at the table gave their approval.

Laura was in good spirits and peppered me with questions, which I tried to answer. I found out she is not a Dockers fan, but a Carlton fan. Sorry, I mean West Coast Eagles fan. I had a great chat with Auntie Di, who emigrated from Ireland to England, then to Australia. She’s about as mixed up as me when someone asks ‘So where’s home?’.

We didn’t get to see Laura dance (she loves dancing) but there were people dancing. I was impressed at the scene, along with the nice ocean breeze. The staff at Blue Ocean have forgiven me after zapping all of them with the electric chewing gum.
