Mandala Airlines taken over in Indonesia

Mandala Airlines, one of the domestic carriers in Indonesia has been taken over by a domestic cargo company. Cardig International Aviation now owns 100% of Mandala shares and will takeover its debts and assets. Mandala has a long history going back to 1969.

The Indonesian military had a part in Mandala, although the state of their fleet doesn’t sound that good. Mandala has 5 airworthy planes, their last crash in 2005. There definitely is a market for domestic air travel in Indonesia and Indonesian National Air Carriers Association (INACA) estimates 23 million people will fly domestically this year.

As with many of these type of airlines (Air Paradise etc. ) their website may not be updated and old routes may still be shown. Talk to a travel agent to find out where you can buy a ticket for.
