Changing Clothes in Bali

Coming to Bali for the first time you will be wondering what to pack. For starters its hot out here, so you won’t need thick clothing. Garments that are thin and allow air circulation are good. Another thing to consider in the day time is the strong sunlight. I see women from Europe and Australia, who have light skin, walking around in tank tops and sleeveless dresses. By the end of the day they’ve got a nice torching.

During the day in the wet season you’ll want to wear sandels, as many of the streets get flooded, or have big puddles. You’ll want to wear either a skirt or shorts, plus a top. Remember to bring a sun hat, as they don’t sell any good ones here.

For evenings it really depends on you. Bali has a array of nationalities living here and there are no set dress codes. You can get away with being under dressed in nightclubs as there are usually no bouncers, or if there are they aren’t going to turn down tourist dollars. Long pants are nice to wear in the evening, even though its still steamy. That simple top is a great idea at night. You might like to cruise up to Seminyak and browse the trendy clothes shops. Maybe you’ll see a colorful item that fits your mood while in Bali.

Dry season is cooler, meaning you can wear shoes while walking around without fear of them getting wet, and if you are around after 11pm, you might want a light jacket. Trips to Ubud / Bedugal/ Kintamani, will definitely be more comfortable with some warm clothing (sweater) in the dry season.
