Sunny day in Seminyak Bali

Saturday here in Seminyak I was recovering from Friday night. Working out more and not drinking is a great, but when I have a drink it hits me harder. After Blue Ocean I went down to Santa Fe and at the counter chatted with 2 German tourists for an hour. Man those arak madu’s slip down easy!

The sun was scorching today and Ika, Jevon, Ana and Awang were all out on the porch, sitting ironing, playing or just relaxing. I was in my room upstairs trying to get the energy to sit upright. A trip to Cafe Moka got me on the right track. My hangover cure is a Thon sandwich (foot long, with boiled egg, tuna, lettuce, mayo, tomato) and a banana lassi. THe bill was 35,000rp. Al that protein and sugar jump started my guts
into life and I was gaining in energy.

Good health is something we take for granted, but in Bali people can get side-swiped with long lasting illness. A friend of mine has had a debilitating illness for over a week now. He gets fevers, has zero energy and has a tightness in his chest where he has to cough all the time. I went to Bali Deli and delivered him a large tub of natural yogurt at his request plus a blueberry cheesecake. Hope he feels better.

Friends of mine have had the flu for a month straight before and I think here in the tropics that is how old people finally fade away. You get sick, it won’t go away, you can’t afford decent medical treatment and you basically just fizzle out.

If you are coming to Bali think about getting some health insurance.
