Changi airport

Living in Bali for the past 3 years I have had make numerous visa runs to Singapore. Often these have been slightly stressful as the Indonesian embassy closes at 12 noon and will not accept any new processing requests until the next day. If you get your paperwork in before noon, you an pick it up the same afternoon. Of course the attraction for me is I can get back to Bali in the same day, if I can make it to the Consulate from Changi airport.

Changi airport is one of the most modern airports in the World and the management really want to promote it as such. The airport has wi-fi internet access, so laptop users can enjoy their favorite websites in the lounge or in the toilet.

The thing I like about Changi is everything works, people speak English and there is 0.001% chance of getting ripped off. Whenever I arrive from Bali its always around 11.15am, due to the schedule of Garuda. In the time it takes you to make a cup of coffee, I can get through immigration, buy a phone card, change money, and be heading downtown on a bus, train or taxi. To make the Consulate, it has to be a taxi, but the other options are cheap enough if you have time. A bus from the basement garage to downtown will cost under S$2.

Changi airport is located on the eastern side of Singapore, and it takes maybe 25 minutes by train. Coming back to the airport by train, you must go all the way to Tanah Merah, change train, then take the one for Changi. Changi airport has a website that details its functionality.
