Seaweed Confectionary: Lombok

rumputlThere was one thing I delighted in devouring on my sojourn to Lombok; the sweets made from seaweed (Rumput Laut). Produced by a company in Cakranegara, Phoenix Food, they are reasonably priced at Rp15,000 a packet. These sweet delights are produced only in Lombok.

They come in a variety of flavours such as Pineapple, Banana, Ginger, Sweet Seaweed, Sirsak and the one I particularly enjoyed, Seaweed Jellies. There are many more flavours besides these. I realise that a lot of people squirm at the thought of eating seaweed and I must admit I had my doubts. But, once you try them they are so moorish!

So, whenever you visit Lombok I urge you to give these delicious sweet delights a try. Trust me, you will find yourself devouring them on a daily basis as I did.
