Indonesian tourist figures down for February

Indonesia has a $5 billion tourist industry, $4 billion of which comes from Bali. We’re not hitting those figures right now and the start of 2006 is slow according to Central Statistics Agency (BPS). January recorded a figure of 85,084 arrivals and dropped 9.02 percent to 77,384, in February.

The Australian market hasn’t recovered its confidence yet and who can blame them. Travel warnings and random nonsense from extremists tend to keep the profile of Indonesia looking like a somewhat shaky place. I think the truth is that if you come out here for a holiday, you will find people friendly and have an extremely rewarding time if you choose quality, get out of the city and explore a bit.

Garuda is expanding its fleet of new planes so when consumer confidence is back Bali will be ready to handle the demand.
