Driving through the mountains to Tejakula Bali

Driving through the mountains I really should of taken some photos, but I had my hands full. Ika was taking care of Jevon, the roads were narrow, the weather was filthy, raining and foggy. The Suzuki was doing okay but there were a couple of times on really steep slopes that I almost stalled in 1st gear.

Just short of Kintamani was saw a partially finished bridge. Right in the middle of nowhere, this construction is high up in the air and the purpose is to allow traffic to get to Penelokan and Kintamani quicker. The local route was about as local as you could get. Extreme rutted and windy lanes. I’d say the people who made the road didn’t use a roller and traffic was almost nill. Great thing for us was we felt like we were exploring.
Seeing the sign for Bondalem told me the coast wasn’t too far away. Temperatures were cool in the Kintamani area and we saw farmers working with thick jackets. Swinging down to the coast in the direction of Bondalem we passed through lovely scenery. The landscape seemed very fertile and Ika pointed out all the fruits that were growing. “Look” she’d say, “there’s jackfruit and durian, also mango and coconut.” “I can see avacado trees, lots of avocado trees.”
The cloud started to clear after a few muinutes descent and after maybe another 15 minutes I could feel the temperature get back to that warm soft tropical climate. Hitting the coast I checked the map and saw that Bondalem was north, Tejakula south. Poincianna Bungalows is actually located south of Tejakula, between Gretek and Tembok.
