Bali Deli: A place to shop, eat and get online.

Added by Nick on April 17, 2005 | Comments (3)

Bali Deli is the Seminyak expats choice for a place to pick up food and drink items. There used to be an inside sandwich bar that has been deleted in favor of Le Cafe, a re-branded eating place that has wi-fi internet access. Sean had only 1 day left in Bali and asked if I had any other interesting ideas for breakfast. We bought a login card for Bali Deli a week ago and still had 2 hours left so Bali Deli it was.

Tiger Woods on Overseas Travel

Added by Sean on March 03, 2003 | Comments (9)

Woods decided to skip the Dubai Desert Classic and $2 million in appearance money, saying it was too close to Iraq and not safe enough for him to travel.

"Going overseas in this particular year, right now, especially in that part of the world, is a little tough for me,'' he said.

Getting ready to leave Bali and random thoughts

Added by Sean on February 28, 2003 | Comments (8)

Nick and are are pounding away at Internet Outpost. You may be wondering what kind of pounding. Well, both on the keyboards and Bintangs. Since we need to continue on the more creative work today and we had already been at it for 8 hours, a few beers while working away actually helps. When I suggested a beer at 3:30 p.m., Nick said,

Sean arrived in Bali

Added by on February 22, 2003 | Comments (2)

CEOs: The same everywhere

Added by Sean on February 20, 2003 | Comments (11)

In the past week or so, there have been a few stories in the Oz news about CEOs that leave the company with huge benefit packages. In the case of the CEO leaving Commonwealth Bank, he received $33 million while the Shareholders' stock is losing value etc. It reminded me of all the big company scandals in the US the past year or so...

US Embassy in Sydney finally answers the phone

Added by Sean on February 18, 2003 | Comments (2)

Well, I am getting an emergency passport replacement. I shipped the docs down today and should have them back by Thursday. Next plane to Bali after that is Saturday. So as long as my Yankee buddies in Sydney take care of my passport, I'll be having dinner with Nick on Saturday night. I will also look into extending my time in Bali so that Nick and I can finish our todo list...not sure if it will happen. In the meantime, I finished two more entries and backdated them so they reflect the correct dates...here they are if you're interested.

Initial Happenings and Observations in Oz

Sean left for Oz

Added by on February 05, 2003 | Comments (0)

Myself, I was at Internet Outpost till 7pm waiting for the rain to slacken off. It didn't so I bought a $1.10 rainjacket and jumped on the bike heading home. The rain was so heavy I pulled into a hotel along the beach road for shelter, the water pooling at the sides of the road and bouncing off my glasses. No let up so I continued, worrying that the road might turn into a river like a couple of weeks ago. I drove slowly and made it home after about 20 minutes.

Added by Sean on January 21, 2003 | Comments (4)

From this post, we found out that our new aquaintence/friend, Ebong (very cool guy, hopefully we will be friends), knows the mystery woman, so she is a mystery no more.

Basically, he said that she has a 6'3" Swede boyfriend who is a blackbelt in Karate...in others words, she is off the map. Or.....I can just see it now...

Clarification - We are in Kuta Beach

Added by Sean on January 21, 2003 | Comments (0)

I was Yahoo chatting with Chris this morning, and he asked,

"Are you still in Ubud?"

Well, no we are not. In fact, when he asked me (Tuesday morning Bali Time) we had been back for 2 days already. Sorry if we did not make that clear. We spent 1 night (Saturday) in Ubud.

Walking Down Poppies II, I'm crying

Added by Sean on January 19, 2003 | Comments (6)

Not because I am sad. Nick and I were working our little tits off Saturday morning. We wanted to go to Ubud for a night and escape the heat of Kuta. It depended on a package arriving via global priority mail from Chris at BootsnAll HQ. Nick walked into Internet-Outpost at 12:30 p.m. and slapped the package down on my mouse. We were free, home free. Ubud here we come.

Nick quickly took off for the room to pack and I shut down and got ready to pay. As I waited for Ika to figure out my bill, I opened the package. The CD with the data we needed was there, but so was a folder with a big arse Birthday card on it....

I opened it and started to read it. Personal notes written to me from the likes of Larry Habbegger, Brad Newsham, the gang at BNI, Christian Beck, My Mum and Pops, Ant, JenLeo, Chris, Joe E, Dada Bacudo, folks from softball and others, interspersed with pictures of me and my friends. Happy pictures. Wonderfully inspiring notes.

I started to cry as I paid my bill. It was a great birthday present and some of the stuff people said to/about me just made me break down. So as I walked back, I enjoyed the surprise and moment. It was only a 4 minute walk back to our guesthouse and I didn't want Nick to freak out when he saw a fat, 30 year old dude crying so I wiped it up and got on with it.

Thanks Chris, Ant and Jen and any other folks for putting that together. Memorable for sure and you all get a big hugs and wet kisses on my return.

Ubud - We are tourists

Added by Sean on January 18, 2003 | Comments (0)

Nick and I pounded away on the keyboard this morning before taking off mid-day on a bus up to Ubud. It is about 12 miles the way the crow flies and up in elevation a little bit.

The cooler temperatures are comforting to us and we already did the biggest tourist spot in Ubud. Monkey Temples, oops, I mean Monkey Forest. For a second, I thought I was back in Kathmandu (that is where the Monkey Temple is). Both are very similiar. Aggressive sex crazed monkeys and photo snapping tourists (including us). These monkeys are feed all day and with all the little babies around, it looks like they are busy at night. No predators as well.

We'll post pictures at another time soon.

May I sit here?

Added by Sean on January 17, 2003 | Comments (6)

I'm struggling with which category to put this entry...

Nick and I went for a walk down by the Ocean yesterday arvo cuz I wanted to have a few Bintang's near the ocean. We strolled into a Hotel because the sign said, "Happy Hour 25% Off". We were sold.

The place was practically empty as we ordered 2 beers. Before too long, a lady came up to us and was looking me straight in the eye. She said,

Sean's birthday celebration

Added by on January 16, 2003 | Comments (1)

This evening Sean and I jumped into a cab and headed out to Jalan Dhyana Pura in Seminyak ( expat alley ) to a place called Santa Fe. It was one of the first places Jason and I went and features a variety of food. We arrived and sat at the bar, immediately cracked open a large Bintang and chatted with the bar staff. On the counter was a pump advertising another beer, Bali Hai. We had one each and thought it was the same as Bintang so carried on with that.
