The Rip Curl Cup ’05 at Padang Padang Bali

The Rip Curl Cup '05 at Padang Padang Bali took a while to get going but has been decided. With surfing tournaments you can’t guarantee the surf so they give a 30-day window, in this case from August 19th to September 19th.

The surf has been good recently and on September 8th the competition got under way. Padang Padang is one of the famous beaches on the Bukit and is close to Uluwatu. Known for its beautiful left-hander and jagged reef it promised thrills. RipCurl is one of the big surfing sponsors. Their boards, rash-vest and gear are all over Kuta and the young 'grommets' (surfing youngsters) all dream of getting sponsored by RipCurl.
