Surf report June 4th

Today and yesterday, the waves have been great. Early morning calm wind, coming in tide, combine with the high tide at 10 to 11 AM, just give the perfect condition for glassy, oil like sea water.

Legian beach has been very consistent with 3-4 ft fun wave, and continue to work through the low tide in the late afternoon. Waves breaking very consistent at the sand bar just off the Jayakarta hotel, in front of the Lifeguard tower # 4 Legian.

I went to surf balangan with a couple of friend at 9.00 am. The tide is too high for Balangan and the back wash make the wave surface choppy. It gets better from the high tide to mid tide, but I have to get back to work.

A friend in Pererenan – Canggu said the early bird crowd hit the water as early as 6,30 am, and they’ve been scoring tubes after tubes in the right hand Canggu. He showed me the photo and I can see the early yellow sunshine reflection on the surface of the curling 3-4 ft wave, with great local surfers like Bol and Dede tucked inside the barrel or doing aerials. Canggu is getting very good at this size, and by 10 or 11 am, the wave is at the best.

This weekend, Bali will have a big surf contest in Keramas beach. The event was called Indonesia PRO, sponsored by Billabong, rated 6 stars ranking with big money prizes.
