The water is cold here in Oregon. Don’t surf here unless you are crazy! As for Bali, the water temperature is a warm 22C. A recent BaliWaves article( 13th / November / 2005) say the surf is a bit dead right now with offshore winds favoring the East coast (Nusa Dua, Serangan). When the wet season arrives in force the western side of the island will be deluged with trash flowing down in the rivers and the eastern side will be the go.
Who knows maybe I will buy a board when I get back and take advantage of all the empty waves and perfect breaks.

You don’t need a board to surf; buy some fins and try bodysurfing. It’s easy to learn and there’s no hard surfboard to hit your head on!
Hi Nick, Glad you made it to Oregon, I guess the water temperature are the same as here, i am not a crazy surfer to surf in NJ, even i have a wetsuit. Nick…I am dying to surf in a great waves like Bali, I have been missing bali soo much, just for the waves and the sun.
Is there any waves in Oregon? is it good, can you send me a pictures of the waves over there if you dont mind, maybe i go visit Oregon in the summer, what do you think? what is the best time to go surf over there, as i know the waves here is not soo good, even Kuta Bali is still better :), I guess i only went to the same place that not soo good waves. I wish that i can meet some surfer that i can go with. do you have any idea where i can jointhe surfer club around here?
anyway… hope to meet you again in Bali next year on February, and have a nice holiday.
Farida,
I have thought about about you over there in Jersey. Big change from Bali eh? Oregon is cold like NJ and we are not on the coast. The best place in the US for surfing is Hawaii in winter (big waves) and California, (smaller waves). The water on the west coast is cold. For you probably San Diego is the warmest. LA is good, though crowded and there are small places up the coast, Rincon, Refugio etc.
Here is a link for you to check out surf breaks in the US.
