We're into July, which is normally the dry season. It's dry but somewhat changeable right now. This morning in Seminyak we had clear blue skies, no wind and warm temperatures. This afternoon the wind picked up and some clouds darkened the sky.
I spoke to a mate of mine who makes surf boards and he said yesterday he surfed out at Uluwatu. Decent swell and not too many people out as it was a bit windy. Still the wind was offshore so the surfing was decent. If you come out to Bali and plan to go surfing you can expect the best wave conditions and water clarity at this time of the year. While still warm, the water is a bit cooler at this time of the year. Its super easy to rent a motorbike with a surfboard rack and explore the different breaks along the east and west coast as well as the Bukit, home to the best surfing on the island.
Its really important to keep warm and not ride around with wet clothes. Plenty of people get sick here because they don't do that. The best thing is actually to rent a Kijang with your friends, then you aren't in the wind and have a place for your stuff and some snacks etc. The Bali surfari can be a blast and most of the beaches on the Bukit have some kind of accommodation and crash pads for those on a super tight budget.
