Surfing has truly caught on. Here in Bali I see people from Japan, the UK, the US and of course Australia ariving with their body bags, eager to forget about the place they come from and hit the surf. A recent articles in the Star.com has information on the surf school that I took a lesson from once, Bali Learn to Surf down on Jl. Pantai Kuta.
If you haven’t tried surfing, you should and Bali is the bet place. Low stress, handy beahes, warm water. Its true what the article says about surfing, when stripped down to its basic form, is “graceful, all-natural, embodying a simplicity that is rare in our complicated world.” You can use surfing analogies in all kinds of situations. When I went to the WebMasterWorld conference in Las Vegas recently I thought about the reasons for going. For me it was to see where the web industry is going, somewhat like a surfer checking the swell forecast from a satellite. If there is no swell, you can’t get a ride no matter how good you are. But if you position yourself in front of an oncoming swell you’ll at least have a shot.
I’m sure surfers will tell you many other analogies and reasons to give surfing a try.

“ariving with their body bags”
Nick considering how much time you spend on here telling people Bali is safe you should change this.
Bali & its people are great. So good I’m getting a villa built near Uluwatu. Can’t beat the friendly natives and the food. The smiles from the girls make a man feel very good, beaches are sublime. Remember to just slip into ‘Bali time’ & enjoy. The bloody terrorists are everywhere-don’t let them hold you ‘to ransom’ by their insane ideologies. As the ad says on SBS TV in OZ-’the world’s an amazing place.
Enjoy life to the full-regards, Greg.*
