Villas are a cash cow in Seminyak Bali

A western friend told me recently a piece of gossip that would put the wind up many people living here in Bali. As so many westerners a rel iving in Bali and working without paying tax, there were whispers about charging a tax on villas of 50,000rp per day.

Okay, 95% of the stuff I hear people say out here is B.S. Foreigners still cannot own land freehold, and foreign men can’t get ‘permanent residence just by living here for 5 years.

A 50,000rp tax on villas wouldn’t kill most people, but would make most expats uncomfortable. After the VOA and other crazy moves, nothing would really surprise me. Let’s hope this is just a rumor.

just change the name from calling it a villa to calling it a castle…still no tax on those. And most of the villas in Bali would come close to being a castle..and most expats could afford to be treated as royalty.

Nick like you nothing would suprise me. It might prove a Cash Cow at the start but like most things they do it would have the oppsite effect in the long run with people not wanting to come to Bali with the thought of having to pay this ans that beacuase of this anfd that and so on.
