Trainer of Bali Bombers helping police

Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), the terrorist organisation behind the Bali Bombings in 2002 and 2005, seems to outsiders like a ragtag band of disenfranchised youths, lead by a few crazy radical scholars and technicians. One of JI’s head trainers has come over to the other side, naming JI members and helping police.

Malaysian Nasir Abbas trained terrorsits in Afghanistan and in Southern Philippines. He set up a jungle training camp that became a ‘fully-fledged military academy’. He came over to the ‘light’ after his brother in law, Muklas, together with other former students, killed 202 innocent civilians in Bali. Today he suggests that JI “return to the right path of Islamic teaching.” Interesting reading.
