Bali has 2 seasons, wet and dry. The wet season is from November to March, with a transition to dry, followed by the coolest, driest months from June-October.
Why would anyone visit Bali during the wet season if they had the choice? Here the top 10 reasons.
•1. Bali is green and beautiful during the wet season. Driving around the island, one be be stunned by the tropical landscape.
•2. Photographers will love the deep grey clouds, diffusing the light and creating perfect conditions for photos.
•3. If you come after Jan 7th, there will be less people than at Christmas and in the high season (July), meaning cheaper prices and more elbow room.
•4. River rafting doesn’t get any better, than during / right after the wet season. Rivers will be running at their highest and you’ll get more ‘bang for your buck’.
•5. Pale skinned people like me, love to be able to hike around the island, or simply stroll around town, without getting torched by the tropical sun.
•6. Cloudy, rainy weather, provides a tremendous cooling effect. Instead of sweating, you’ll be pleasantly cool, during and after a big storm.
•7. Sitting on a hotel / restaurant porch an admiring a tropical downpour is relaxing.
•8. If the only thing you’ve ever done in Bali is surf, the wet season could inspire you to look into some of the other great things happening in Bali, such as the taking a painting course, learning Indonesian, visiting a museum, going with a friend to his / her village, taking an adventure trip (cycling, hiking, rafting).
•9. Staying inside an enjoying that extra dessert won’t make you feel so guilty, when a storm is raging outside.
•10. A quiet hotel in the mountains (Sanda Butik Villas) or on a remote coast (Poicianna Resort) is the perfect place for some long overdue relaxation.
In a typical wet season day, Bali starts out with a dawn shower, lasting around and hour. Skies often clear to reveal strong sunlight. Afternoons often cloud over, with humidity building towards another downpour around 5-6pm, leaving us with a cooler evening.

Hey, thanks for the great information about Bali, I have wanted to travel there for a long time and I was planning a mid-Feb Trip until someone said “Rainy Season” Being a fellow Oregonian transplanted in Japan for the past two years Rain does not sound fun to me, but your sight has convinced me to go for it and stick to my timeline.
Keep up the great love of this country I am so excited.
Totally recommend visiting in the Wet. We live in Darwin and whilst we are meant to have the same weather - the weather in Bali is definately cooler.
Yes it rains, but it is so relaxing having nothing to do and all day to do it, therefore watching the rain is quite therapetic.
Whilst we try and not be too planned over the holiday time in Bali, we do keep a few says free in case there is rain in case we need to reschedule an activity.
