Talking to my parents about Bali

Visiting London gave me the opportunity to spend time with my parents and during that time I got to tell them a bit about Bali. London is currently experiencing hot weather and the thought of travelling to a place that is 8 degrees off of the equator was not something they looked forward to.

Many Europeans are genuinly fond of cool weather and if the mercury gets above 25C its uncomfortable for them. Just the other day in London it was 36C, and although the sun felt like a blowtorch, sitting in the shade enjoying a breeze wasn’t that bad. The humidity in Bali certainly jacks up the heat, or at least the feeling that its hot.

I’d say to people who are thinking of coming to Bali, but who do not enjoy super hot temperatures, come during the dry season, especially June-September, when you’ll get sunny days, cool mornings and evenings. If the temperature is still too much for you, head up to Ubud, or any place in the highlands including Sanda, Bedugal and the Kintamani area.

Regarding food many Europeans do not like to eat rice. Don’t worry, you can eat steak and potatoes every night at a different place, plus 50 other kinds of cuisine. I think enjoying a trip to Bali involves letting go of one’s comfort blanket for a while and trusting there are great things out there waiting for you.
