Style of Baliblog

Last afternoon chatting with Benny in a Kuta internet cafe, he told me he likes the journeys I document and the photos. When I think of the reasons people might read Baliblog, here’s what is come up with:

1. People are researching their upcoming trip.
2. People want to keep the memory of Bali fresh in their minds.
3. People are bored / want to tap into the Bali fantasy.
4. People want the latest news on Bali.

Serving up what people want is my goal and as much of it as possible. Benny said he is a lover of surfing and back in Australia checks out BaliWaves to get an image of what the surf is like. He told me that just seeing a video clip, or latest photo, and some commentary by a person living on the Bukit, really brings it home.

I try to remember, that even though the sight of a beach or a satay vendor, may not be super exciting for me right now, for people far away, catching a glimpse of a familiar street, or new location can be inspiring.

Hopefully I’ll be able to do more of the little getaway’s and comment of beaches, hikes, spas and other sdtuff that people might want to know about.

hai nick, i agree with you. I read baliblog because i want to find out more about bali. and also keep the memory fresh. i was in bali(kuta) in jun 06. I didnt get a chance to explore more of bali. i like spa very much. Had 1 done in legian area. the only problem was i could hardly relax. The staff talk n giggle all the time. Did my pedicure at the beach. Its was so relaxing. of course after days of harassment.
I like being at the beach early in morning. But most of time I’m approached by some vendor. Otherwise, I love Bali. The hotel service were good and staff very friendly. I like the architecture of the hotel. I want to try other beaches like Sanur/Nusa Dua.
will visit bali again some day. keep up the good job. will keep reading ur blog.

I read your blog everyday. I have been back in Oz for 9 months after living in Bali for a year. I wish I never made the move home. We only came home for financial reasons. I love reading your stories as it keeps me informed and homesick. We are just praying that we win lotto so we can come back again. We have a house sitting in my husbands village doing nothing. I want to sell my house in Oz and come back, but everyone says its a bad move. My children just loved Bali and I think are bored here, no kids to play with and confined to our house all the time. Oh you are so lucky

Hi Nick,
I read you blog almost everyday too in the morning with coffee before starting to work. I love reading your blog, although I’m a local. I just got here this year and need lots of information how are things in Bali these days. That’s when I find your site with all the fascinating stories and beautiful pictures. I came from Jakarta and find Bali is a very interesting place to stay. I work as a Software Engineer here and I don’t know if I’m going to spend the rest of my life here. Bali is sure fascinating but some of my Japanese friends find it very difficult to live here and get a good job. I live in Kuta and really interested to meet you in person. Sorry for my English.
