Shaman - Electro wear: Seminyak Bali

This afternoon I met Patrick, the French creative influence behind Shaman, the fashion shop next to Cafe Seminyak at Bintang supermarket in Seminyak.

Patrick has lived all over Asia for the last 20 years and is experinced in the fashion industry. A man of grand visions, his company designs ‘electro fashion‘ that is both comfortable, unique looking and well made. Says Patrick “Fashion is a really a desire, but as well as that, we make our garments to be functional.”

Shaman has 47 employees involved in desiging, making, promoting, and shipping the goods. The shop itself seems quiet, but gets a steady stream of customers. Shaman has partner companies in 20 countries selling their clothing and accessories, which is really meant for a city type enviroment. Patrick otld me that the age range of people buying his clothing is wide and many people from 30-60, who don’t want to look like eveyone else will pick up an item.

Shaman makes its own t-shirts, pants, shoes and jackets. It also stocks t-shirts and jackets by Space Tribe, pants and t-shirts from Gado Gado, and bags by Orange.

Shaman Electro Fashion isn’t a cheap place to shop, but it is unique and the success of the business, in terms of the clients its has attracted overseas, is a testament to the creativity and workmanship. As Patrick says “If your clothes are not made well you cannot build your brand.”

As well as Shaman Electro Fashion, there is also a Cyber Bazaar, internet cafe upstairs. Cafe Seminyak is itself an internet wi-fi hotspot.
