Happy New Year from Bali. 2007 is here, and I hope all Baliblog readers fulfull thier goals in the coming year.
The refreshing, blustery weather really cooled us down yesterday, meaning the air was comfortable and fresh. In my neighborhood, the Castro District (Seminyak), bars and nightclubs were gearing up for the big party. Ika’s mother is in town and wanted to see how New Years is celebrated here. Ika, Awang, Ningrum, mother in law and Jevon, took off on motorbikes at 10pm for Kuta Beach. Locals and tourists gather there every New Years to watch fireworks. Feeling relaxed and contented, I toyed with the idea of joining them, but the traffic wasn’t something I was up for. Around the corner from my house, Jl. Dhyana Pura was starting to rock, but instead I watched a self improvement DVD, followed by the Bourne Supremacy. To be honest I was very content and went to bed at 12.30am thinking I’d had a good evening.
Lets’ make 2007 a year to remember.

Happy New Year 2007 to all of you!
My fiancee and me had unfortunately a more negative start into the New Year in Bali. In case you are interested, what can happen to you and your girlfriend, if you refuse to get robbed @ MBarGo in Kuta, just read here:

Anyway – all the best,
Chris
Happy newyear to everyone!!
That’s a very sad story you write there what happened at Mbargo. To say the truth, I never liked that place. It just isn’t a relaxed place to be. I don’t hope it will be a sign for other bars in Kuta.
Last year I was in Bali also. We all hear about the stories from tourist who loose money because of criminals. Actually it happened to a friend of mine, who is working at the police (!) in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She was introduced on the street to friends. She met them several times, a good “trick” to give a false feeling of confidence. She went to their house, they drugged her food and at the end she started to play a card game. Of course, in the beginning the won, but later she lost and they pushed her to go to the ATM and take all her money. A very sad story but again true. So a warning for all Bali lovers: never trust a stranger!!
Cheers,
Perry (Netherlands)
met tahun baru semuanya
