Seaside Sunday brunch Seminyak Bali

seafood gymSunday midday Ika, Jevon and I rode down to Jl. Double Six and ate Sunday brunch at Seaside restaurant (past Zanzibar, Blue Ocean etc.). We had no idea they served Sunday brunch, but outside was a large board. Seaside is a modern looking place, enjoyed by expats and tourists, providing a shady place to sit and enjoy the view. Out in front is the beach, the crashing waves and anything else that wanders by.

Seaside also has a small modern gym located behind the restaurant. Jevon liked playing with the ‘yoga ball’ (or whatever its called, the big ball people use for exercise). There were no
customers in the gym so I let him play for a while. His ultimate favourite toy was the parking barrier outside. He hung onto it and I raised him up. Little bugger didn’t ant to leave, maybe
I’ll buy him a parking barrier for his next birthday.

The Sunday brunch is basically a choice of menu items, each one 25,000rp. These include:

Mushroom Breakfast - 2 poached eggs with field mushroom, cheese sauce & grilled tomatoes.

Southern Comfort - 2 thick slices butter brioches with honey, cream & warm peach syrup.

Huevos Rancheros (Veggie or Chicken) - with corn tortillas, cheese, 2 eggs, Mexican rice & beans, sour cream.

2 Eggs Any Style (fried / scrambled / poached) - all served with brown toast, butter, strawberry jam, fresh fruit.
With bacon, home fries, grilled tomato & mushroom
With sausage, home fries, grilled tomato & mushroom
With baked beans, home fries, grilled tomato & mushroom

Salmon Breakfast - Poached eggs, smoked salmon, crispy hash browns, wilted spinach & hollandaise sauce.

Bagel - (baked fresh on premises) - including:
Smoked Salmon - with cream cheese, slice onion & capers
Bacon - with eggs & cheddar cheese
Poached Egg - with ham, hollandaise sauce, butter & jam
Rare Roast Beef - with fried eggs & radish cream & fresh tomato

Eggs Omelette (all served with brown toast, butter & roasted tomato) - including:
Mexican - with guacamole, salsa, sour cream & cheese
Spanish - with potato, onions and cheese
Spinach - with wilted spinach, shallot & cheese
Ham - with ham, tomato, onion & cheese

Savory Crepes (all served with mixed greens & house vinegrette) - including:
Spinach - with poached egg, bacon & cheese
Ham - with smoked ham, poached eggs & hollandaise sauce
Salmon - with smoked salmon, poached egg, cream cheese & capers

Sweet Crepes (all served with mixed fresh fruit)
With banana, caramel sauce & vanilla ice cream
With strawberry & vanilla ice cream
With Nutella, roasted almond & vanilla ice cream

All meals include a Bali Coffee or Tea & small Orange Juice.

Ika and I chose the huevos rancheros, a Mexican style dish with eggs and re-fried beans. The food was good and Seaside was a pleasant to to go after my gardening efforts. We both got plenty to eat and you can’t complain about 25,000rp.

Hey Nick!

Glad to see you are still doing your thing in Bali. Cody and I are both back in Oklahoma for the time being, myself in Tulsa and Cody in Norman.

Just thought I would drop you a line. Hope all is well there. I definitely miss hanging out on the beaches of Bali.

Jeff,

Great to hear from you. I wondered where you 2 ended up. Things are pretty much the same here except we now have a fancy sports club called the Canggu Club, for all the high earners who like sports. Say hi to Cody.

Angee,
Seaside has a nice location for sure and one that is made even better by the opening of the beach front drive allowing people get all the way from Seaside down to Jl. Melasti.

Is there a point to this blog any more? Just seems to be a chronicle of a boring life in Seminyak. Wonder how long until bootsnall pull the plug.

It’s been a yawn for awhile now. I sense a bitterness in his writings. Most ex-pats turn bitter given time.

Anon has a point. Baliblog has been without doubt a valuable source of information. Bali is a small island, writing three subjects a day over four years time can be a strenuous job and mind-numbing. Consequently some readers may view the Blog drawn away from its main objective i.e. attracting prospective tourists and adventurous people (whom Nick was once before) into a monotonous personal dairy. Nick, it is perhaps time to move on. Family life should not hamper your endeavor to be BootsnAll valuable amateur journalist. I hope my comment is viewed with positive attitude, it is after all for all of us to enjoy Nick’s writing for many years to come.

Hilton,
Heard thru the grapevine that the Balihai Resort’s new owner is Boyke Gozali from PT Indonesian Paradise Island which also Harris Resort Kuta owning company.
Harris Resort and Balihai are managed by Tauzia Hotel Management (Marc Steinmeyer). Maybe you will find similarity in both hotels. Harris International operates two hotels in Bali. Good luck with your vacation.

Maybe Anon should just delete the connection if it bores him so much… We are moving to Bali in August and like to see what is on the Blog and for us newcomers it still is appreciated.

Don’t know about that Bryan. I love the convenience and ease of living in a western country. I love Bali has a holiday destination. Been there countless times and keep going back. Couldn’t stand living there.
