Seaside Gym: Legian Bali

seaside gymWorking out is one of my favourite parts of the day. The most time effective way I have found, that works for me, is to go to the gym. The gym I attend is Seaside gym, on Blue Ocean beach in Legian. From my house, which is close to Jl. Dhyana Pura in Seminyak, Seaside gym takes several minutes to get to, not because of the distance, but because of the traffic. I have been a member for almost a year and get benefit from going. My workouts consist of a short weight session, followed by 30 minutes on the running / skiing machine. I feel great afterwards and ignore comments from people who don’t like gyms. Hey, they work for me and I think can work for anyone, if you focus on what you’re there for, and not all the other nonsense that gym attract, including egos, attitude and personality clashes.

My time to workout is around 2pm, meaning the gym is quiet (empty would be my preference). My membership is for 1 year, limited hours (10am-3pm, daily), for 2m rp. Seaside gym is new, the equipment is good and its all AC. Downstairs you’ll find weight equipment, including machines and free weights, upstairs there are various cardio-machines including a runner / ski machine, treadmill, stair-master, rowing machine and boxing equipment. There are no locker rooms, but there is a shower.

Opening hours are:
6.30am-9pm Mon-Fri
6.30am-5pm Sat
8am-5pm Sun

1 year membership - 4m rp
6 month membership - 2.5m rp
3 month membership - 1.5m rp
1 month membership - 750,000rp
1 week pass - 300,000rp
1 day pass - 75,000rp
1 year Off Peak membership (10am - 3pm) 2m rp

The gym has the usual rules and regulations, which I like. These include no unsupervised kids under 15 years old, members must wear shoes and shirt, and members are required to replace weights.

In my opinion working out is always worth it, for a variety of reasons, weight control, feeling of well being, burns cholesterol, makes you stronger / look better, helps cure illness / jet-lag. For me the once a year payment of 2m rp is pain I can deal with. The actual working out is pleasure.
