Schapelle Corby ready for final appeal

Schapelle Corby’s lawyers said today they were ready to launch a final appeal, at the Supreme Court in Jakarta.

In case you are not familiar with the case, Schapelle was caught entering Bali with over 4kgs of marijuana in her luggage. She denied ownership and her defence claimed it was planted by baggage handlers in Australia. The defence failed and she was sentenced to 20 years in jail, which she is cureently serving in Kerobokan. The case has gone to Bali’s High Court, and the Supreme Court is the last option.

I think most of us would like to see Schapelle go home, but her best chance was right at the start. Instead of taking on the Denpasar Court with the ‘I’m innocent and the Australian public are behind me’ defence, she should of followed the tried and tested method of a Solution, behind the scenes. ‘Schapelle - chapter III’ might have some suprises, so stay tuned.

On a brighter note Barbara Kathleen Higgs, the owner of the Bulan Baru ( New Moon) guest house in Sengigi Lombok, has been sentenced to 6 monthsd in jail for marijuana possession. Mrs Higgs could get out of jail very soon, the judge stating that she had shown remorse and cooperated (read that how you like).
