Picking up a friend from Oregon in Bali

skolnicksThis afternoon I have pick up a friend from Oregon who is visiting Bali for a couple of weeks. Barbara Skolnick was the wife of Jeffrey (that’s daughter Brianna in the photo), my friend who passed away in 2005. Barbara is coming out with a lady friend and wants to head straight to Ubud.

My plan is to rent a car here in Seminyak, drive to the airport laong with Ika and Jevon and shoot up to Ubud, hopefully getting a little snack while we’re there. Barbara wants to enjoy downtown Ubud and its culture / restaurants. She’s going to stay at the Pradha on Jl. Kajeng, close to Jl. Raya Ubud. The Pradha is a mid-range place and is 1 minutes fm the Royal Palace and within 5 minutes of some great restaurants (Ary’s Warung, Casa Luna, Tutmak, Batan Waru etc.).

Transport is the deciding factor in so many situations in Bali. I will recommend Barbara gets a car with driver to explore a bit, and really touch the Bali she imagines. Bali is safe for older women to visit, either alone or with a friend. Ubud is quiet at night, but you do not have to fear walking around.

When I meet them at the airport, I’ll be sure to hand them cold Pocari Sweat, a long plane flights and the tropical climate can leave a person dehydrated. From Seminyak, I can get to the airport in 25 minutes, so no stress at all.

Hi Nick
did you manage to get to Naughty Nuris, have been there many times whilst living there. The ribs and local expats are something else.

Nick,

I can’t stand the fact that I can no longer click and get the larger photos. Is this a permanent thing? I realize, or as you would say realise, it takes a lot of bandwith, but I do enjoy the pics.
