Land & Visas in Seminyak Bali

(This is the second time I wrote this post, my machine crapped out!)

Land and visas are 2 of the biggest worries for expats in Bali. Tonight I had dinner with some friends, who told me that foreigners can own land freehold, and people married to a local, will be able to get a Resident visa soon.

Land in Bali is something I don’t know much about. My friends (1 Indonesian and 1 bule), insisted there was a legal way for a bule to own land freehold. It sounded like a rental agreement to me, but anyway, I’m just reporting what I hear.

Also, according to my friends, a foreigner who is married to a local will soon be able to get a Resident visa, straight away, work permit and all, without the 5 years on KITAS. Who knows, this may start a market in fake Bali marriages, for all the useless surf rats, who just want to hang out in Bali, till the next swell.

Hi Nick, concerning visas,as you already stated in a previous blog, multiple business visa cannot be extended again like yours so what’s up now for you.I also heard the sosbud visa would be prolonged to 12 month’s instead of 6.Due to the new citizenship law, foreigners legally married to a local can get a permanent residence visa for their off spring and dual citizeship till their 18 years old.The foreign husband however still stands in the cold as he stays considered as a “tourist” Why don’t you go check on this item at the immigration office and your ” biro jasa” in order what they are up to in the future.Certainly you want to know as well as you are in the same position as many expats, married, child and visa runs.

I am now on a Single Entry Business. The Indo immigration department are a nightmare, they pass laws and don\’t tell anybody.

I heard from friends that in the near future, married people like myself will be able to get a Resident visa straigt off the bat, instead of the psuedo-Residt visa which entails getting KITAS for 5 years, then having a resident visa that can be cancelled.

Social Budaya? Yeah maybe, I don\’t know. Maybe they ha changed the rules for that, between now and the last last time I checked.

Kids: Campur kids cannow get dual-nationality.
