The Kuta Karnival, the annual event that was inspired by the Bali Bombing in 2002, is in full swing. The event features surfing contests, beach soccer, music on Kuta Beach and a food court at the beach / Jl. Melasti.
The people behind the Kuta Karnival are still getting their website together, but here is a schedule of events. Ika, Jevon and I rode past Kuta Beach on saturday night and it appeared they were still setting up. I find the Kuta Karnival to be like a kid’s Happy Meal, all packaging and promise, with little substance inside. The intention is good and many people work hard. Problem is they try to stretch the thing over a week, and the general energy level is low, with many tourists having no idea there is a event going on. Good luck to them them though, and I hope Kuta Karnival 2006 is a roaring success.

Hi Nick,
We distribute over 9,000 program booklets targeted directly at check in with the Bali Hotels Association, so any tourist staying in one of the major hotels in Bali will have information about Kuta Karnival.
Being down at the opening it was really busy, and even so there are not many tourists in Bali in general we had a very positive response so far.
News about KK 2006 have been widely distributed by the travel industry and advertisings were placed in major publications including Garuda inflight.
The website needs some dedication, but so does everything that is maintained by volunteers only.
We welcome any help to improve Kuta Karnival!!!
Kind regards
Chris
