Jevon: A kid’s life in Bali

jevonThis morning Jevon and I went down to Cafe Seminyak for a coffee. More correctly, it was me hoping for a coffee, he just wanted to look at the motorbikes. Arriving there several minutes after leaving my house, staff told me the coffee machine wasn’t working. Calamity strikes! Plan B was walking up Jl. Seminyak to Cafe Moka, a place I knew had breakfast cakes and coffee. With Jevon sitting on my hip and enjoying the ride, we scooted along and made it Cafe Moka, without me slipping on the irregular sidewalk, or him wetting his pants.

The staff at Cafe Moka are sweet, but some have not met Jevon, as I rarely go there anymore. A popular place that is enclosed, I was a bit worried about taking him there, in case he threw a fit and disturbed the other diners. My worries were unfounded and as soon as I placed him on a cushioned chair, he looked around and laughed. We shared a chocolatine (type of croissant) and when it was gone he tried to climb on the table and look for scraps.

Back at the house after getting a measure of susu ibu (mother’s milk), he got out his keyboard. What a fun life it is, being a kid in Bali.
