Flu bug in Seminyak Bali

Illness an occasional fact of life in Bali. This weekend Ika has been down with a fever. She has a massive headache, fever interspersed with chills. Strangely her sister is down with something as well. Many illnesses share similar symptoms, so its anyone’s guess what her problem is. In any case, rest and hydration are super important.

Today I’ve been looking after Jevon, bathing him, taking him for a walk etc. Its no big deal, but means I don’t get to do anything else. Checking out dengue fever on Wikipedia, I see that there is actually no cure, except allowing one’s body to recover. I wasn’t if she had dengue, but today she feels a lot better. Ika had dengue when she was 9, so you can get over it. Our neighbor had dengue a couple of months ago.

A friend told me today there is a flu bug going around with the symptoms Ika had.

Hah! We both caught the Flu Bug here as well (Kerobokan). Since last saturday (when there was that big downpour in the afternoon).

Sneezing and coughing since then, but slightly improving.

But – if that’s all the problems we have – who cares? ;-)
