Desa Seni Canggu Bali

Desa Seni which literally means ‘art village’, is located on the ‘backroad to Canggu’. It is a unique hotel and last night I discovered it was also a very cool place to eat.

The village features half a dozen traditional Indonesian living structures which provide a comfortable place for visitors to stay. Also located inside one of the saddle-shaped roofs was the dining room. The elevated position and open window afforded the 6 of us views of the rice fields surrounding Desa Seni. At nighttime the place is illuminated with lamp and looks fantastic. For a new arrival, dinner at Desa Seni would be a great way to start their vacation.

Desa Seni has a website ) and can be contacted for more information. Dinner parties should be booked in advance.

The menu my fellow diners ordered from included large portions of various pasta dishes,, including carbonara, 2 chicken dishes, of which I chose the Bumbu Chicken with rice (55,000rp), which was very good. Staff at Desa Seni were very attentive and the tranquil setting was perfect for a dinner in peace.

Getting to Desa Seni from Kuta will take 20-25 minutes, heading up the Sunset Rd and taking Jl. Petitenget to Batubelig and along the bumpy road past the Canggu Club. Once you arrive the
place and food are worth it.
