This evening is December 26th, the day after Christmas. A late afternoon storm cleared the air and left a lovely coolness. Streets are not flooded, but have other problems. The roads in Seminyak resemble an assault course, more than a street and Jl. Nakula, across from Jl. Double Six is completely unuseable due to roadworks.
Riding my motorbike around this evening, it was way easier to get where I was going than in a car, but the cops in Kuta and in Seminyak insisted on traffic diversions, creating a lunatic asylum of lost drivers. In Kuta I had to ride down the sidewalk to get around the SUV’s that were huffing and puffing, but going nowhere.
Dinner tonight was a strange affair. At a restaurant clsoe to the beach I ordered a pork chop. Back came the menu, out of pork chops. Next choice was the grilled chicken. Back it came again, out of chicken. ‘Oh hell’, I thought, ‘just give the burger’. The burger did come, but was partially cooked, so I sent it back! On the return it was cooked, but full of grease, so I left most of it. I eat 1 burger a year, to remind myself why I don’t eat them. I guess I’m good for another 365 days.
Anyway, here in Seminyak Jl. Dhyana Pura has some live music (Santa Fe, Obsession, JP’s Warung) and is fairly quiet. One place that does great food here is Sin City, give it a try next time you’re here.

My wife and I are planning our 6th trip to bali. do u have any ideas for a nice hotel offering a 14 days package ?
hello. I love Bali, but I haven’t been to Seminyak. We always stay in our bungalow in Ubud. I think it’s a peaceful place to stay with many excellent cafes to mention a few. I’ll put your blog on my sidebar for more information of Bali and travels in Indonesia if you’d love to. I’d love to help Indonesian goverment with more tourists inflows, probably by just reading my blog. That’s one of the ways, isn’t it? Cheers!
hi there, i know of a great villa at reasonable prices in seminyak to stay at. we stay there all the time when we visit bali. its called Villa 8. its a short walk to all the popular restaurants and shops. check out their website http://www.balivilla8.com they take reservations by email. good luck.

Hi Nick,
I’m glad I found your blog with all the weather updates. I was thinking of going to Bali in mid or end of next month. But I’m not too sure cos I know it’s monsoon season and here in Singapore we’ve been experiencing non-stop rain. What do you think? Should I go or take a rain check? Oops… no pun intended.
Thanks!
