Christmas bliss in Indonesia

Many people come to Bali from Australia to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s. Being away from home, not such a big deal, because home is relatively close, and relatives often accompany. It’s a different story for Europeans and Americans, who find themselves in Bali. For people who celebrate Christmas in a big way back home, Christmas in Bali could be a weird experience.

One traveller who is spending time in Indonesia, is having the greatest time and is blogging about it. Jared Booth has been hanging with the locals in Gili Trawangan, Lombok and is floating on air. His positive outlook and good interactions conspired to create a ‘life-changing’ travel experience. The idea that we create our own reality is true. Like the guy who rode around the world on a motorbike said, “I strongly believe my mental state, greatly affects the way in which I act towards other people, which in turn affects the way they act towards me.”

If you are on a RTW trip and find yourself in Bali at Christmas, the best strategy for having a good time, is to grasp the adventure / freedom, with both hands and go for it. Try not to sit around your guest house thinking of mummy (mommy FYY) and daddy back home. Jared Booth immersed himself in the local culture and left a happy camper.
