Bringing liquid on Bali planes

Liquid bombs have been in the news lately, with a posse of nutcases in England planning to blow up airliners over the US. Since that time, the UK and US have banned liquids in hand luggage, apart from baby milk. I was interested to find out the score in Bali.

Calling various numbers at the airport, including Information, Security, and an airline, I attempted to ask the same question, ‘Can I bring drinks onto the plane?’ Most of the people coud not speak English, so I stumbled through and got answers like ‘Sedikit sedikit.’ (a little). An airline didn’t know the answer, and passed me back to Security. Anyway, the vibe I got, was that no one was aware of any related dangers to liquids, so you will probably still be able carry on what you like, including duty free.

The day will come when everyone boards a plane stark naked, well except for clear plastic underwear. And plane toilets will have glass doors just in case a few fellas feel like making a bomb out of peroxide and shandy.

Have a look at:

On a more serious note, we already have machines which can make us appear naked to the operator. I suggest they should be installed in every appropriate port/airport etc in the world.

I saw video of some of the 9/11 highjackers going through customs into the US. If they had been scanned by such a machine, maybe 9/11 would never have happened.

I have heard that the excuse for not having widespread use of such machines is that the public would not accept such an intrusive system. Since when have governments worried about what the people think, when they really want to do something?

Heading to Bali next week, we have been told duty free alcohol, perfume etc is still allowed as hand luggage.
