B&B: Bali Watch Center & Handicraft
Looking for cheap gifts for friends and relatives back home? You might try B&B, one of the shops I visited today on Jl. Legian. Situated close to the junction with Jl. Patih Jelantik, B&B is really a watch shop, that also sells handicrafts. Handicraft items include metallic faces of Buddha, and other elegant figures, suspended in a black frame. They also have cheeky Balinese surf drawings, that seem to focus on the ‘privates’ of the cartoon characters. The thing that caught my attention, was a bowl of wooden puzzles outside the shop. These are a Balinese version of the Rubik’s cube.
Basically all these different shapes fit together, your job is to take them apart (which is easy), then see if you can put them back together. They’re quite ingenious and the staff offered me 15,000rp for 1.
