One of the most well known travel guidebooks is Lonely Planet. They have been around for 30 years and selling books is their focus. They do have a website and the best function of it is the message board, known as the Thorn Tree. I have been reading the Thorn Tree for around 5 years and it's a great place to post a question and get a quick answer, on Bali or anywhere else.
The Thorn Tree got its name after a guesthouse in Nairobi Kenya, which had an African thorn tree outside. When travellers wanted to leave a message or share information they would hang a note on one of the thorns. Pretty cool and the Thorn Tree is a high traffic message board. Some of the answers you will get might not be polite and on occasion it can seem like a mugging rather than a service, but for the most part there is a tremendous amount of travel information getting shared.

the ohio medical insurance
Thinking about going to Candidasa in Dec/Jan. Last there in ‘96. Wondering how things have changed. Does it still feel safe? What does a basic bungalow cost now?, and restaurants and warungs? Will need a bungalow with 2 double beds or 1 double and 2 singles - kids 10 and 12. My husband always loves to haggle but what would be a fair price for taxi from Airport to Candidasa?
Rough Guides has a brilliant forum as well.
