Almost every upmarket hotel in Ubud and Seminyak, not to mention Nusa Dua, now has it own spa. Guests can pamper themselves, relax and rejuvenate. Spas come with herbal baths, whirlpools, traditional massages, mud and seaweed wraps, reflexology and a selection of scrubs. The Balinese are pretty clever when they want to be and can introduce any kind of therapeutic treatment that becomes popular. As well as spas based in big hotels there are a number of walk-in places that are dedicated spas like Body Works in Seminyak (there are actually 2). Most of these spas are open all day until 7pm allowing plenty of time to enjoy the atmosphere and escape into another world.
Prana spa on Jl. Kunti in Seminyak create a Moroccan / Indian reality with its Rajasthan castle design and interior. One of the most popular Indonesian treatments is called a mandi lulur which is a herbal exfoliation massage where a paste made from yellow tumeric, rice and nuts create an abrasive effect and are rubbed all over.
Prices vary of course but you might be looking at $20-$25 for a mandi lulur.

Oohhh, my wife and I had a Mandi Lulur treament in Ubud last year and it was incredible…the massage, the smell of the herbs, the tub full of flower petals; it was amazing, and so, so cheap…gotta’ get back to Bali and that spa! I don’t remember the name of the Spa, but it is directly next door to the Dirty Duck restaurant in Ubud (the dirty duck is right next to the Soccer Field.) You should definitely try it : D

I had 3 times a massage in Bali Samadhi in Lovina and it was amazing. Before I had always problems and pain in my back. After the first session it became already better and now still ( two month later) I feel still good. You have to go there when you visit Lovina. Have a look at http://www.BaliSamadhi.com They offer all this Mandi and more…
