Renting a car here in Bai is super easy. Ika, Jevon and I are taking off early on Saturday for NE Bali. Not wanting to deal with waiting around tomorrow and dealing with crap, I walked over to Jl. Dhyana Pura. Along DP there are many car rental places. Every time I walk to the beach someone is saying “boss rent car?” I wanted a Suzuki Katana as they are small and cheap. The first place I went to the guy wanted 250,000rp for the 3 days I’ll need it. I offered 200,000rp and he let me walk away. Good to know I reached rock bottom.
The place across the street had 4 guys sitting outside playing a board game, whereby counters are flicked at each other, with the intention of knocking one through a corner hole. They play this in India also.
I was no-nonsense and offered 200,000rp for 3 days. The guy made a call and agreed. The car will be back by monday afternoon, so he gave me the keys straight away. The whole proceedure took 10 minutes and I showed no ID.
Be sure to check for dents otherwise they might try to claim you dented the car.

Hi Nick.
Departing Perth (where I live) and am staying in Seminyak from 3rd to 13th February. Solo trip for me. Lodging at the Bali Ayu - a good cheap budget hotel (well, that is what my travel agent said anyway - it better live up to its reputation).
Would like to meet up with other travellers (especially those that would like to accompany me into Kerobokan), and get along to one of your famous BBQs! ![]()
Cheers,
Bali first-timer
