Practicalities of bringing young children to Bali-part II

Families with young kids can buy disposable diapers / nappies in supermarkets such as Bintang in Seminyak, Macro in Sanur and Alpha in Denpasar. Balinese people tend not to use disposables because of the price. You might also want to bring a changing-mat if you are staying anywhere other than a decent hotel or are planing on travelling around. The public toilets on the beach are nasty and outside of your hotel the only toilets are going to e in restaurants or shopping centers. Baby facilities are few and far between.

Here is Bali the locals carry their babies in their arms or use a sarong-like device. Since sideways are haphazard and the roads can be pot-holed, baby chairs are not common. You might pick up a child carrier backpack before you come or ask at your hotel about how to rig up a sarong. Ika told me the specially adapted baby-carrier sarongs are very common in Java.

Lastly, the sun in Bali is intense. Young skin can be permanently damaged, especially fair-skinned babies. Make sure you get a hat for your kid, use plenty of sun block and do not let it play on the beach all day long without a shirt.
