Gary from Sydney submitted some up to the minute info on the new VOA (visa on arrival) that may help some people.
Regarding the VOA, there has been some discussion regarding obtaining a 30 day Visa in Sydney prior to depature. You can, however. You have to fill out an application form in duplicate, supply two passport photos, pay AU$125.00 and wait three days.A lot more that the US$25.00 for a VOA.
Cheers Gary.
Matthew sent me a link to a New York Times article on Seminyak. You have to sign up to read it but it does give an impression.
I send sms’s not postcards…does that mean I’m somebody?
Cheers Matthew.

G’Day Nick,
I have jsut finished talking to my friend in the Visa section at the Indonesian Consulate here in Perth. Here’s the scoop!.
CANNOT obtain 30 day visa at an Embassy in Oz. You have to go through the visa crap section at DPS airport.
You CAN obtain a 60 day visa at the Embassy. Cost is AUD$125. You need to provide your airline ticket, one (1) passport foto, and fill in one (1) form. The process takes 3 days. There is no further cost at DPS airport.
In the past when dealing with the Embassy obtaining Cultural visas, I haver found it best to carry more than one foto when applying for any visa.
Nice work on giving us that information.
Thanks Bazza.
Thanks BAZ, let’s hope they get rid of it tho, or just incorporate it in with our airfare etc….. I hate lining up!
What is it with Immigration officers everywhere? No matter what you say, they always give you a hard time. Like what happened to me in LA last Monday, they make me wait for 2 hours at their office. Even when all my papers are in order. And that’s on top of $100, 4 hours of waiting in the Embassy and 3 days process time before they finally gave me my visa. And according to the security people in the Embassy that I talked to, I’m one of the lucky one! Most of the Indonesians have to wait a month to a year, and that’s if they are given visa at all. Most of them lost a month salary for nothing.
The Bali Post had an article stating that the free 60 day tourist visa will be back in affect March 1st. Can anyone confirm that?
Bob, do you mean Indo’s applying to travel somewhere!? HUH, they can be long winded drawn out process’s… I guess in that regard the visa to go into Indo for us is less of a hassle than Indo’s applying to travel to Aust (for an example.) As it costs money, more than most earn in a month, just to apply (holiday) then lots of forms, ID, police checks etc, etc, etc!
So yeah Immigration Officers must be Dentists that could not pass their exams! hee hee hee…Noone really wants to be one!?
Alex, there has been a whisper, but there has been NO confiramtion, do you have access to the Bali Post article? If so can you post here, so we can all read it???
