Bali can bit a tricky for disabled travelers because of the sidewalks and the high curbs. Many of the sidewalks have paving slabs missing and the roads often have potholes. That does not mean you should not come if you are disabled, but that you should be prepared for a few hassles. The airport does not cater very well to disabled travelers, neither do most of the buses.
The part of the island best set up for disabled travelers on a large scale is Nusa Dua, with its selection of international hotels. Alternatively a disabled traveler could hire a driver and get comfortable in a place like Padangbai where the traffic and amount of traveling needed is small. As my LP guide points out, Bali can be a great place for blind travelers as the gamelan music and the languages here are always present and create a landscape of sound for the visitor.

Well, it is sad but it’s so true. My sister slipped on the stairs and smushed her right ankle. She was in wheelchair for a while (she’s fine now). Everytime she went out mostly at restaurants, people literally stopped what they were doing at that moment and looked at my sister with a pity look!
That’s what it is in Indo. They need to (at least) treat the dissabled in a better humanly way.
I don’t think that the govt will spend money on dissabled accessability, though, they’d better off sucked that money for themselves!
so you don’t like youself then Tony?
Well in bali people woth disabilities often do not come out doors unfortunetly. but if you want to travel there its easy. hire a wheel chair attendant, pay him 50,000 rupiahs a day to push your relative around. anyways if i was disabled i would be more than happy to go to bali. its a great place to relax and to have a bit of fun. also hire a driver if you want.
